My take on the role of mastering

Mastering should help a track to be the absolute best version of itself that it can be. It’s a process of refining, enhancing and sometimes correcting, whilst respecting and staying true to the original production values and genre.  Mastering should allow a track to connect with its audience as authentically and impactfully as possible, and to realise its full potential. Achieving loudness that is competitive and appropriate for both platform and genre, whilst retaining the dynamic interest that gives your audio its character, is at the core of the mastering process.
